What we have done is put together some solid investigation about Dubai Property home improvement and put it in one place. So just finish reading through this to glean more than enough to begin forming a great foundation.

Be Sure To Include A Garden or Two In Your Landscaping Plans

If you?re looking for an exciting and fun challenge, how about designing your own landscaping? Should you be considering undertaking such a project, here are a few tips.

Step one is additionally the most important step, and that is setting up the Dubai Property Landscape design. Before making any finalized decisions about just what will be integrated in your design, there is a good deal of information you need to gather. Will you choose a pond? Paths? Then why not a patio or deck? It?s important to decide just before you start working. In addition, there is going to be a huge variety of flowers, plants and trees from which to pick. To help you with your designing, grab a few landscaping magazines, and look online for books and articles. This type of exploration will be well worth your while, due to the fact when all is said and done you will have saved money, effort and time, and have a great looking yard.

Now, if you?ve carried out the planning stage, you are going to get going with the actual design. One of the top ways to get started may be to come up with a scale model using exact measurements. You should have no trouble getting detailed guides on the best way to do this, many available for free online. You should place any design elements on your layout pad, but it?s only the preliminary plan, which can always be changed. Play with it a little bit. Try several placements. It really is just a model. And don?t forget the seasonal aspect of things ? you want to make sure your design will look good year round. This is also the time to think about how to minimize maintenance requirements as much as possible.

As we have just mentioned, Dubai Properties is something that cannot be ignored ? or at least should never be ignored. No one really can effectively address all the different situations that could arise with this particular topic. There is a lot, we know, and that is the reason why we are taking a very short break to state a few words about this. After all we have read, this is appropriate and powerful information that should be regarded. Our final few items can really prove to be highly effective considering the overall.

As it is often tough to visualize what your design will look like in reality, buy some good Dubai Property Landscape designing software. This specific program displays virtual photographs of what your yard will actually look like, and it allows you to shuffle things around until you?ve got it all just right. This software also allows you to add a photo of your home, so you can see how everything will fit together. The majority of the software programs give you recommendations on placing the different elements. A lot of the software even illustrate what your design will be like as it ages, and everything grows. Understanding what your Dubai Property Landscape designs will in reality look like over time gives you an opportunity to make a few changes now.

For a lot of of us, a garden is the primary target in our design plan. Gardens may be positioned strategically, so that they blend in with the complete design. This could imply tucking your garden away so that it?s like a concealed gem. For all those of us who enjoy getting out and working in the garden, creating your own Dubai Property Landscape will be a lot of fun.

We know you want to discover more about Property Dubai DIY, and coming up next is something we believe will help you in ways you do not know, yet. Retail Crisis Managers: Today?s Small Business Heroes | Health

Retail Crisis Managers: Today?s Small Business Heroes

When you opened your retail store you never thought you would hear the terms

?liquidation? specialist? or ?retail crisis manager?, much less need the services of one.

You started your small? business from scratch. It grew. It made a profit. It became

established and people began treating you? differently. Much differently than before

and you enjoyed it. What seemed like a miracle and blessing? at the time, has

suddenly turned into your worst nightmare.

After ten, twenty, or thirty years of working 24/7, suddenly, like nearly half of the 27

million small? businesses in America, yours has become unprofitable. More often than

not, a small business (or even? large one) finds itself in turmoil after the fact.

In earlier depressions, this usually meant total liquidation and/or bankruptcy. Today

there is a? professional on the horizon, the retail crisis expert also known as retail

crisis consultant, who can? often, keep one from having to file bankruptcy and in many

cases make your business profitable again.

This profession is known as ?retail crisis management?. Though there are many now

n this field, finding the right one does not have to be difficult.

Many businesses must close but the retail consultant knows ways to keep losses at

]]>

a minimum and? sometimes guide you through profitably (or with minimal losses) in a

closing.

Upon numerous searches on the Internet, I found the name Milton Waldoff and

The Waldoff Group who, at one time or another, has been Yahoo!, MSN, and Google?s

#1 ranked retail crisis manager and turnaround specialist.

I visited the site and read the testimonials. I learned that one of the most

important steps in a retail? crisis is to call the right person early. Even if one has never

heard of a retail turnaround consultant,? more likely than not, one of his/or her

competitors has and has or is using one.

Contacting a retails crisis manager of course is difficult emotionally, but once set

into motion, it is? like couples counseling. Positive things start to happen that you may

not have thought possible. I? won?t sugar-coat the situation. We are in a brutal

economy and there seems to be a ?survival of the? fittest? mentality out there. But

there is a change for many businesses, often when they couldn?t see the

light of day. Again this means finding the right professional.

Again this person you seek will be ranked very high on all three major search engines,

and just as important have a roster of happy clients with testimonials that are

checkable on his/or her site, and if possible, years of business experience behind his

or her own belt.? I decided to interview Mr. Waldoff who was generous with his

information. He operates in? Hattiesburg, Ms as a retail turnaround expert aka

liquidation manager.

Waldoff, who operated his family business for __ years and built it into a 60,000

square foot? retail clothing store, says, ?Even in the case of long established well

operated stores where? management might be considered professional, where they

feel they really know what they are doing? and are good merchants, survival is often

impossible.??Competition is severe and customers don?t have? a sense of loyalty, good

sales associates are difficult to attract and keep, indeed the retail apparel? business is

difficult, at best, and adds, ?We assist in developing realistic goals based on the your

situation, needs and desires.??Working with the stores inventory, sales, mark downs,

etc., developing? sales goals, inventory management, open-to-buy, taking advantage

of the market, merchandising,? merchandise presentation, marketing, advertising, etc.,

to assist retailers achieve realistic goals.

Is the World Ready to Send People to an Asteroid? (ContributorNetwork)

Even with the many upheavals around the world, the news has been full of space stories lately. Some are in response to the Obama administration's desire to send people to an asteroid, where they have been talking about sending people by 2025.

Very recently, NASA released its Global Exploration Roadmap that has two options for the future -- concentrating on sending people to an asteroid and concentrating on sending people back to the moon. There have been many stories about an asteroid mission but most of the stories have made a difficult task seem far easier than it is. So let's look at a part of that process, and in future stories we will examine other facets.

First, what is so difficult about sending people to an asteroid? When you think of an asteroid, think of something that is far away and moving really fast. The orbits of a small number of known asteroids do bring them close to Earth, but they are traveling at extremely high speeds.

If you were to get close to one and match orbits, you are now in an orbit that takes you far from the Earth and does so rapidly. These are not good candidates for a visit -- you must grab and go, and your propulsion system had better be extremely reliable. Some asteroids are in orbits that do not take them farther from the Earth, but they are still far away from our planet.

Visitors to those asteroids would have to be able to live autonomously for years. For instance, the Japanese Hayabusa asteroid explorer was launched in May 2003, visited the asteroid Itokawa in 2005 and returned to Earth in June 2010. If that had been a mission with people on board, they would have had to survive without resupply for seven years. With the current technology for water reclamation, oxygen supply, etc. that we have seen on the International Space Station, the crew would have had to take a huge supply of those along to account for losses during the mission.

There are asteroids that pass "close" to Earth, one of them has the homey name of 1999 RQ36. It comes near our planet every six years, with a close approach in 1999 of 1.4 million miles. The next approach will be about 1.3 million miles. Compare that to our moon, which is about 240,000 miles away. The asteroid 1999 RQ36 is the destination of an exploration mission; called OSIRIS-Rex and a mission with people would fly a similar trajectory.

OSIRIS-Rex will launch in 2016, rendezvous in 2020, and return to Earth in 2023. So if people were included in that mission, people would have to bring along enough food, water, and air to survive for over seven years. Now potentially people would not have to stay as long as OSIRIS-Rex so let's assume they stay for a week and have a total six year mission. The International Space Station -- a huge, well-supplied facility, could not survive for six years without resupply.

Any asteroid mission would have to use an extremely reliable crew vehicle, one that had been proven in flight for several years. Since we can hope to have a deep space vehicle ready for test in 2018 or so, we will not have a proven craft (to take people to a destination that was enormously further than the moon) until 2030 or so.

In future stories we will look at the state of current technology and see if an asteroid mission can be done by 2025.

Charles Phillips has had a long career in the space field: he has worked in space operations since 1978, as an Air Force officer from 1978 until he retired in 2005 (working in space, communications, and maintenance), or as a NASA contractor, and he has been a writer all of that time. Now he finds the stories that people are interested in but might have been missed by other reporters.

Behemoth sunspot 1302 unleashed another strong flare on Saturday morning--an X1.9-category blast at 5:40 am EDT. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) recorded the extreme ultraviolet flash.

A NASA SDO movie shows a shadowy shock wave racing away from the blast site. This is a sign that the blast produced a coronal mass ejection (CME) that could deliver a glancing blow to Earth's magnetic field on Sept. 26.

Since the X1.9-flare, active region (AR) 1302 has unleashed M8.6 and M7.4 flares on Sept. 24 and an M8.8 flare early on Sept. 25. None of the blasts have been squarely Earth-directed, but this could change as the sunspot turns toward our planet in the days ahead. AR1302 is growing and shows no immediate signs of quieting down.

Vinyl Siding vs. Stucco Home Improvement is an important decision

In view of the eternal soul of the research is concerned, this can not be something high on the list of perplexing puzzles waiting to be solved. On the other hand, if you have a recent home buyer looking to spruce up your new purchase, it could also be the source of many of your calls lately. The e-mail in question is very good. What material should I use for my bag at home after the start of the most ridiculous or, to put it in a more subtle way - not orthodox ? of optionsThey are working normally on the left or with stucco or vinyl siding. There are many good reasons for choosing one of these options, it all depends on your specific situation. You might want to think about the following considerations before deciding. What kind of neighborhood am I?

You may find that every single house within a mile takes you a stucco or siding, always with the exclusion of others. This match is an interesting choice for the restthe neighborhood or to stand out a little. "If you decide on stucco, you can use your home a touch of sophistication that other houses are missing. The opposite may be true. If your environment is mostly stucco, you may find that the addition of vinyl siding you can look at home as the youngest of the subdivision to make. This is perhaps the only question that matters ultimately, in many cases. What will it cost?

This area is usually the vinyl siding, that will win. Installationthe costs are lower, the lower material costs and repairs are easier. The possibility of replacing a piece of vinyl identical to another piece of vinyl can help put you at ease, if a stray baseball hits home. Stucco can be difficult to repair, if done poorly. Cracks and discoloration may appear, ruining the look of your house otherwise wonderful. What kind of maintenance is required?

Once again it's the vinyl that wins in this category. Although it is not too important a victory in the truest sense of the word, it is important to emphasize. Vanishes and stucco can be painted regularly. Vinyl enough to be washed regularly in some way ? to do a tube ? to keep his eyes again. What looks better?

As it was previously mentioned, stucco looks nicer in general, some say even refined. And "finally in the eye of the beholder, but the general trend is for bigger and better position> Homes for filler, while more modest houses have with vinyl. This does not mean that the vinyl quality is not a perfectly legitimate choice, but only that the perception is that the filler is the most beautiful, most expensive option. Ultimately the best choice for you depends on a single or several of the above factors.

Real estate foreclosures up virtually 100%

?

Based on MSN Real Estate, the number of homes entering into to foreclosure has jumped nearly 100% given that final 12 months as efforts to stem the surge have come as well little as well late, using a sizable jump in the variety of homes completing the foreclosure process and becoming taken again because of the financial institution, also known as real-estate owned, or REO.

This surge in foreclosures as well as the resulting drain on the economic climate is ?the most important current risk? towards the economy, based on Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, who in a recent speech warned from the ?immediate need? for loan companies to modify and refinance extra loans.

Countrywide Monetary, 1 from the nation?s biggest lenders, recently announced that it is going to refinance or modify as much as $16 billion of adjustable-rate mortgages by way of the end of 2008, to help as many as 82,000 borrowers remain within their properties.

Why far more lenders weren?t willing to supply these fast-track remedies earlier is puzzling to several, even these within the business.

Countrywide as well as other loan providers have recently arrive below fireplace for making loans that borrowers couldn?t pay for and, in present-day market, can not refinance. Of the $468.2 billion in loans that Countrywide made in 2006, $40.six billion had been nonprime.

Loan companies say they are using steps to contact troubled borrowers and function with them. But frequently, by the point they get approval to get a financial loan modification, it?s too late and borrowers have already misplaced their household.

Lots of state housing groups have stepped in to bail out troubled homeowners, before the problem does substantial damage to their communities.

1 enterprise, Hudson?s agency, released a program last week, to barter with loan providers to decrease the payoff on some loans which are more than industry value. Furthermore, it strategies to advertise state bonds to assist underwrite the expense of producing new 30-year fixed-rate loans to five hundred to one,000 distressed house owners in the subsequent 18 months.

At least a dozen other states have released help programs. Some basically supply counseling very hot lines, but a handful in Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, New york and Massachusetts help borrowers to refinance, and one in Michigan assists borrowers with mortgage payments when they develop into involuntarily unemployed. Having said that, quite a few of these programs ? including Pennsylvania?s ? are only just now using applications or refinancing their first loans.

Knowing Your Computer Hardware | Computers and Technology

There is a personal computer in almost every home and office and yet there are still people confused about computer hardware. You can define a personal computer as a system that was built for one person to use but there come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The tower size was the most common when they first became popular, but today people are more prone to purchase a midi or mini tower to save on space. The difference in size mainly dictates the amount of bays that are available for drives and the type of motherboard that will fit into the case.

The computer contains multiple components that are placed inside to create the unit. You can have all the hardware in place, all in working order but without software, mainly an operating system you are left with a dumb computer. The operating system will manage the hardware inside the computer and determine how it is utilized and also allows the user to control the way the system operates. You may have heard the term firmware and it has been associated with computer hardware, it is not considered hardware, just a program that is embedded into the hardware itself. The firmware in the hardware can be updated to help your hardware work properly with different operating systems and other software on your computer.

The hardware is considered all parts that are inside or connected to the outside of the computer. The computer case, mouse, keyboard, monitor and speakers are considered hardware. Inside the computer you have parts such as the motherboard, CPU, memory, hard drive, ROM drives, video card, sound card, Ethernet card and power supply. The computer hardware in each system may vary by type, brand or even size but the main components are always the same in order for the system to work. If you go to purchase a bare bone system it will come complete with case, power supply, mother board and CPU, memory, video, sound and sometimes hard drive. This is the basic components to get the tower to operate; you can then add ROM drives, speakers, keyboard, and mouse and monitor to have a working dumb computer. In order to have a computer that is completely operational you have to install an operating system and the necessary drivers for the hardware to work.

Each piece of hardware in your computer is different; some will require drivers while others will not. The memory for instance requires no drivers and is simply plug_and_play and most ROM drives and hard drives act the same way. But, other hardware inside your system such as your Ethernet card, video card or sound card will require drivers to be loaded once the operating system is installed to operate correctly. Many times the operating system you use will pick up the computer hardware drivers without having you install them manually. Once you boot your system up for the first time your operating system will detect the new hardware and begin searching for the necessary drivers.

Palestinian crisis looms over U.N. meeting (Reuters)

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) ? Diplomats scrambled on Thursday to head off a clash over Palestinian plans to seek full U.N. recognition with little visible sign of progress and a deadline less than 24 hours away.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad briefly seized the spotlight at the United Nations General Assembly, accusing the United States of using the September 11, 2001, attacks as a pretext for attacks on Iraq and Afghanistan and condemning western support for Zionism.

But attention focused on the crisis transfixing this year's U.N. meeting. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is ready to submit his application to the U.N. Security Council on Friday despite pressure from U.S. President Barack Obama to forgo the U.N. option and resume direct talks with Israel.

Obama's meetings with Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday ended with no breakthrough, illustrating stark new limits of U.S. influence over a process spinning in unpredictable directions.

Obama, whose personal efforts to restart the Middle East peace process have proved fruitless, on Wednesday declared that direct talks were the only path to Palestinian statehood, underscoring unbending U.S. opposition to the U.N. plan.

Obama said the United States will veto any Palestinian move in the Security Council -- a step that would isolate Washington with its ally Israel at a moment of unprecedented political turmoil across the region.

"We understand that the Palestinian people feel like they have waited very long, and far too long, to have their own state. We want to help them achieve that state as quickly as possible," U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice told U.S. NPR radio.

"But the bottom line is there's no way to accomplish that short of the two sides coming back to the negotiating table," Rice said, calling the Palestinian U.N. bid "unwise and counterproductive."

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who had her own meetings with Abbas and Netanyahu, said the United States would continue to push for a durable, negotiated peace.

"Regardless of what happens tomorrow in the United Nations, we remain focused on the day after," Clinton told reporters.

ON THE GROUND REALITIES

Whatever happens at the United Nations, Palestinians will remain under Israeli occupation and any nominal state would lack recognized borders or real independence and sovereignty.

The cash-strapped Palestinians face their own political divisions, and may also incur financial retribution from Israel and the United States that could hobble their efforts to build the framework of government for their homeland.

But in the West Bank, Palestinians have rallied this week to support the U.N. plan, with many expressing anger and disappointment over two decades of failed U.S. policy peace policy.

At the United Nations, diplomats are focused on several scenarios which they hope may contain the damage once Abbas makes his application, as most expect he will.

The Security Council could delay action on Abbas' request, giving the mediating "Quartet" -- the United States, Russia, the European Union and the United Nations -- more time to craft a declaration that could coax the two sides back to the table.

But the Quartet may be unable to agree on a statement that could satisfy both Israel and the Palestinians, which remain divided on core issues including borders, the status of Jerusalem, the fate of Palestinian refugees and the future of Jewish settlements.

A senior U.S. official said Quartet envoys met for several hours on Thursday.

Another option, advanced by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, would see the Palestinians go to the General Assembly, which could vote to upgrade the Palestinians from an "entity" to a "non-member state" while reviving direct peace talks.

Sarkozy's plan calls for talks to begin within one month, an agreement on borders and security within six months and a final peace agreement within a year.

The General Assembly route would require only a simple majority of the 193-nation body, not a two-thirds majority necessary for full statehood.

What remains unclear, however, is whether the Palestinians will insist on the right to haul the Israeli government or its officials before war-crimes tribunals or sue them in other global venues -- something Israel opposes.

The Palestinians have pledged to press the Security Council bid while keeping the General Assembly option open.

POLITICAL THEATER

Iran's Ahmadinejad -- who arrived in New York this year weakened by factional infighting at home -- accused Western powers of a variety of misdeeds and again questioned the September 11, 2001, attacks as "mysterious."

In what has become a regular piece of political theater, U.S. and other Western delegations walked out of the General Assembly hall during his speech.

Although he did not mention Tehran's disputed nuclear program in his U.N. speech, Ahmadinejad said later that Iran would stop producing 20 percent enriched uranium if it is guaranteed fuel for a medical research reactor, seeking to revive a fuel swap deal that fell apart in 2009.

"Any time they can guarantee us this sale ... we will stop 20 percent enrichment," he told reporters, although deep Western skepticism over Iran's nuclear intentions would likely slow any possible resumption of talks.

The Iranian leader, who in the past has called Israel a "tumor" that must be wiped from the map, made only a passing reference to the Palestinian issue in his U.N. speech and had no comment on the Palestinians' bid for U.N. recognition.

Students Create Android Gaming App

Students in the College of Charleston?s game programming class (in the Department of Computer Science) have created a new video game for Android phones. Adolfo Rico Motis (an exchange student from Mexico), Corneliu Illisescu (an exchange student from Italy), and Carlos Rodriguez Flick (an exchange student from Mexico) prototyped ?Okho? while taking a computing in the arts course at the College in 2010. They returned to their home countries, continuing to correspond about the game, and added it to the Android Market in early September 2011.

?Developing video games is harder than it looks,? Illisescu says. ?It is very time consuming, but it is very rewarding to see it working in the end. Coming to the College of Charleston gave me the opportunity to experiment with different things. I don?t think I would have developed a game, and put it on the Android Market, if I had stayed in Italy.?

?Okho,? which means box in Russian, is inspired by Tetris, except squares come to you from four directions. The game is free, but uses paid advertisements for income. The game can be downloaded here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gaidde.okho

?We probably could have done this even if we hadn?t been at the College of Charleston, but Dr. Bill Manaris? help was invaluable,? Flick says. ?He was more than a professor, he was a colleague and a friend. We had a great experience working together, thousands of miles away from home.?

Motis adds, ?I am very grateful towards the College of Charleston for that fall 2010 semester experience. It was unforgettable.?

The game programming class teaches students how to design, prototype and test computer games using a scripting language. This class is part of the College?s new Computing in the Arts (CITA) major. The CITA major is designed to offer students an interdisciplinary experience in computer science and the arts.?CITA combines creativity, problem solving, and computational thinking through an interdisciplinary curriculum of courses offered by Computer Science, Music, Art History, Studio Art, and Theatre. This new major is managed by the Department of Computer Science and is supported by the combined faculty from computer science and the School of the Arts.

Preterm infants show mortality risks as children, adults

Death rates in early adulthood higher than for people born at full-term

Web edition : 3:51 pm

Infants born prematurely face a higher risk of dying in early adulthood than babies born at full term, researchers report. The higher mortality risk also shows up earlier in life, when the preterm babies are preschool age, scientists report in the Sept. 21 Journal of the American Medical Association.

The study is among the first to gauge the effects of preterm birth on mortality in a large population of adults, says Saroj Saigal, a neonatologist at McMaster University School of Medicine in Hamilton, Ontario, who wasn?t involved in the research. ?This is an extremely important paper. It shows that prematurity has lifelong implications.?

The researchers analyzed a birth registry of more than 670,000 people born in Sweden from 1973 to 1979 and matched that information with the country?s death registry through 2008. The scientists took note of the gestational age of nearly 28,000 preterm babies, defined as births occurring less than 37 weeks after a woman?s last menstrual period (full term in this study was defined as 37 to 42 weeks), and tracked the progress of all children who survived past one year.?

Preterm children were 59 percent more likely to die between ages 1 and 5 and 38 percent more likely to die between 18 and 36 than were full-term babies, says study coauthor Casey Crump, a family medicine physician at Stanford University Medical School, who teamed with researchers at Lund University in Sweden for the study. From ages 6 to 17 the groups showed no mortality difference.

Babies born very prematurely had the greatest mortality risk. Each week of prematurity increased a person?s young-adulthood mortality risk by about 8 percent.

Health problems typically seen in babies born prematurely explained some of the higher mortality rates in the preterm group, including lung ailments and heart and hormone irregularities, the registry data indicated. Neurological problems weren?t implicated. ?It will be important to inform preterm survivors, their families and physicians to be aware of the long-term health risks,? Crump says.

Saigal notes that signs of higher blood pressure and insulin resistance, an early warning sign of diabetes, are now showing up in studies of people who were born very prematurely, which may increase their mortality risk.

About 5 percent of the births in Sweden in the 1970s were preterm, a rate that?s just over 6 percent now. The U.S. rate is currently about 12 percent. Advances in neonatal care have helped many more of these preemies survive today, some with a gestational age as low as 23 weeks. Such newborns rarely survived in the 1970s when this study began, Saigal says.

The increasing survival of premature infants makes it difficult to apply these findings of mortality risk in adulthood to today?s newborn population.? An infant?s medical care ?will always be out of date by the time you do the calculations,? Saigal says.

Do you run or own a small retail business? Are you concerned about the security of the business? Have you noticed an increase in crime since the financial problems of the United Kindgom commenced a couple of years ago? Are you unsure as to where to obtain a professional and affordable security company? To start with I would like to apologise for all of the questions ? they do however go in some way to describing what this article is all about ? business retail security.

Now with regards to your answers for the four questions I am of course unaware of your response however around a year ago I would have answered all of them with a big fat YES. At this stage I was becoming increasingly worried about the amount of crime in the local area to where the twenty four hour retail shop that I own is located. The type of crime that has increased since the onset of the financial difficulties ? which many blame on the greedy bankers ? is mainly the petty crime however the locals have also noticed additional violent crimes such as robbery and muggings. And where have all of the police gone? Oh I forgot the UK government have made thousands of them redundant ? nice one!

This is why I now employa couple of security guards who mainly work during the hours of darkness. I basically found the security company online and I was some what surprised at their charges ? I had been expecting to pay a fair amount more. The company also provide me with a key holding service.

The amount of crime in the area has not fallen since I started to work with this security company however as a business we have not been affected anywhere near as much.

So at Veritas, we are always trying to find bargains for our customers. And for the most part, most of our wines are under $20. And we rarely sell anything more then $30. But every once in a while, we come across an expensive wine that we truly love but wouldn?t naturally purchase ourselves. Then every once in a blue moon, there is a no-brainer ? because our supplier put it on sale. When we see it, we snatch up and offer it to you. What you don?t buy within one month, we take home and put it in our cellars. Which brings us to our current purchase ? the 2002 Jordan Cabernet from Sonoma, CA selling for $50. Google price this and the average price is $75 plus shipping.

So ? this wine has nothing to do with the greatest basketball player to ever have played the game, but it matches everything you know about his game ? excellence, fineness, dominating [add your word here]. Jordan Vineyards hails from the Alexander Valley in the Sonoma region of California. ?It was started in the early 70s by Tom and Sally Jordan, who purchased 275 acres of land, soon to grow into the 1000s. And since, the Jordan Winery has been an award winning winery, with accolades from all the wine magazines, restaurant magazines and any publication related to food or drink. Their wines make?appearances?at White House dinners and in the 90+ categories on most wine reviews. Jordan sits amongst wine royalty, along with wineries like Screaming Eagle and Cakebread. Jordan was ranked #1 in Wine & Spirit?s restaurant poll eight times, most recently in 2008.

So lets talk about the 2002 Cabernet ? first and foremost the blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc. This wine is just now getting to it?s potential with about one hour of decanting but will age elegantly until 2017. 2002 was a perfect growing year for Alexander Valley, without too much heat or rainfall. The wine shows a great balance between the tannins and fruit, with a soft, mellow mid palate and an extended finish.

Here are notes from the wine maker regarding the 2002 Cab ?

The 2002 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon was fermented slowly and received a gentle extended maceration in order to extract, soften and stabilize the lush, elegant tannins and concentrated flavors from the fruit before pressing. Full malolactic fermentation followed in large oak casks to soften the natural acidity and enrich the texture of the wine. The young wine was then aged for twelve months in both French and American small oak barrels and six months in neutral large oak barrels before blending to achieve an optimal balance of flavors and complexity. After bottling, the finished wine received nineteen months of additional aging in our temperature controlled cellars before release.

The continued addition of the fruit from our hillside vineyards is in part responsible for the well integrated increase in aromatics, depth of color and flavor and mid-palate feel in the 2002 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon. The bouquet offers subtle notes of cassis, black cherry, currants and chocolate. It is a richly textured wine with lush, ripe flavors of blackberry, Bing cherry, cassis and raspberry. Slight earthy notes of tobacco and cedar and a subtle framework of oak complete this delicious wine.

We are exceptionally pleased to offer this wine to our customers at $50 a bottle. However, we were only able to receive a limited quantity so we ask that you call in advance regarding availability. The number for the shop is 302-543-6071. Please call between 1 pm and 7 pm, Monday through Saturday. Cheers!

DeGraw has little memory of attack

By Randee Dawn

Just by looking at Gavin DeGraw, you'd never know he was the victim of an Aug. 7 assault that left him with a broken nose, concussion and other injuries.

Piano man and singer Gavin DeGraw discusses getting hospitalized from a recent assault and sings the song "Not Over You" from his upcoming album "Sweeter."

Yet when the "I Don't Want to Be" and "Chariot" singer visited TODAY's Matt Lauer for a quick chat and a short musical set to promote his new album, "Sweeter," the singer indicated that the scars he was left with largely internal: Mainly a lack of memory over the night in question.

DeGraw, 34, said that on the night he was attacked, he had met up with some friends and was walking home down a street in New York's East Village that he'd "walked down thousands of times." He recalled a group of people saying something to him ("the tone was weird") and then "the lights went out."

He was attacked by three individuals; after he came to, he recalled getting up to find a hospital, but his concussion made accomplishing that goal particularly challenging. "I was very bloody, which caused me to panic, which made it that much worse" he said. "I am told I got clipped by a taxi. My head was so rocked from the concussion that my balance was off and my vision was blurred. The 911 call was, 'Hey, I just saw this guy get hit by a taxi.' Whether I got clipped by it, or possibly went up to it to say 'can you help me?' (I don't know)."

Much of what DeGraw now knows was pieced together by post-attack witnesses. Lauer asked him if he worried about how a broken nose could change his singing voice, but DeGraw said he had other priorities at first: Seeing his family at his mother's 60th birthday the following week.

"We were all supposed to meet in Nashville for a show, and just seeing their faces after this was really the worst thing. But then after realizing how bad off I was by the looks on their faces, that's when I started concentrating on my voice and thinking I could have trouble."

No?one has been arrested for the attack at this time.

Support and technical assistance is also given for a year after the course is taken.

Syracuse University and Florida State University also have an Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans? Families. Family caregivers of disabled veterans and spouses of fallen soldiers can utilize the program to kick-start their business too.

?By being an entrepreneur, we are helping with the economic recovery,? said Randy Blass, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel who serves as director for the FSU program. ?You are creating jobs. That message is not lost on someone who still wants to serve and is looking for some identity to latch onto?We talk about business. We are going forward. We are not looking backwards.?

Alumni of the program have started and enhanced many types of businesses. The programs cater to all business ideas ? the only must is to have the spirit of entrepreneurship and be open to thinking about new ways to improve your business acumen.
